Dr. Strickler is a board certified comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of eye conditions, with a special interest in cataract surgery. Dr. Strickler is the primary cataract surgeon at Schenectady Eye Surgery Associates. He is certified to use the most advanced technology in cataract surgery, and performs hundreds of cataract surgeries each year. In addition to performing surgery, Dr. Strickler enjoys teaching his patients about their conditions.
Dr. Strickler received a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Psychology, and Neuroscience from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachussetts. He then earned his medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. He completed his residency training in ophthalmology at Albany Medical Center in 2010. He was awarded the Cetner Award by the ophthalmology faculty at Albany Med in recognition of his exceptional clinical skills at the conclusion of his residency.
Dr. Strickler maintains hospital privileges at Ellis Hospital and Albany Medical Center Hospital. He performs surgeries at Ellis Health Center and at Albany Regional Eye Surgery Center. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the New York State Ophthalmology Society.
A life-long resident of the Capital Region, Dr. Strickler was happy to join Schenectady Eye Surgery Associates after his residency, and he became a partner in the practice in 2012. He lives in Niskayuna with his wife and two young children. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, swimming, and running. He is also a player on the Adirondack Club Water Polo Team.
